Statement from LSNYC on Winning NYC’s Inaugural “Excellence in Human Service Delivery Award”

New York, NY – Legal Services NYC is honored to be named one of the inaugural winners of the Excellence in Human Service Delivery Awards (EHSDAs) this month by the city’s Office of Nonprofit Services (MONS) at Gracie Mansion. The EHSDAs recognize nonprofit organizations and public servants across the city who demonstrate innovation, operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to serving New Yorkers. We are proud to be recognized for our efforts to strengthen the city’s human services safety net and ensure that vulnerable New Yorkers have access to the support they need and deserve.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Mayor’s Office and grateful to the New York City Department for the Aging for their steadfast support,” said Daniel Barkley, Director, Elder Law & Veterans Justice Project at Legal Services NYC. “Serving older New Yorkers, many of whom are coping with disabilities, diminishing capacity, and the risk of isolation, is essential to ensure they can age with dignity and safety in the homes and communities they love. We look forward to continuing our partnership with New York City as we work to make sure older New Yorkers have the support, benefits, and services they need to live happy, vibrant lives.”
Legal Services NYC’s Elder Law Unit protects the rights, stability, and dignity of older New Yorkers. Every day, the Elder Law Unit fights to keep seniors in their homes, preserve their income, and protect them from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This recognition underscores the urgent challenges facing the city’s older adults and the importance of legal advocacy in helping them live with security and respect.
