The Pro Bono Scholars Program

The Pro Bono Scholars Program permits qualifying third year law students to take the New York State Bar examination in February of their final semester if they commit to providing 500 hours of pro bono work under the supervision of legal services providers before they graduate. Legal Services NYC was one of the founding organizers of the Program and is available to sponsor Pro Bono Scholars at any of our offices throughout the City. The Poverty Justice Solutions Program

Pro Bono Scholars and other graduating law students may apply for these two year post-graduate fellowships to provide eviction prevention legal services in New York City. Legal Services NYC is available to sponsor Poverty Justice Fellows at any of our offices throughout the City. For further information about the program click here.

Internships and Other Fellowships

Legal Services NYC hosts a number of fellows and interns across its offices. These include Skadden and Equal Justice Works fellows, among others. Those interested in applying for fellowships hosted at LSNYC should send an email explaining their proposal to Adam Heintz at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Legal Services NYC also hosts scores of law students every year. Summer interns are primarily placed through the Public Interest Career Fair at NYU. Term internships may also be possible. Please contact a staff member in the relevant practice area of interest to learn if opportunities exist. You may also apply online to serve as an on-site LSNYC volunteer, although space is limited.
