Legal Services NYC, Legal Aid, and Selendy Gay Elsberg Secure Ruling Upholding the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 and New York’s Rent Stabilization Law

New York, NY (February 6, 2023) – :The Legal Services NYC, Legal Aid Society, and Selendy Gay Elsberg PLLC, together with the New York State Attorney General and the New York City Law Department, secured a ruling on two Federal appellate cases – Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP), et al. v. City of New York et al. and 74 Pinehurst LLC, et al. v. State of New York, et al. – upholding the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (HSTPA) and  New York’s Rent Stabilization Law (RSL).

New York, NY (January 11, 2023) – The Legal Aid Society, Legal Services NYC, and Selendy Gay Elsberg PLLC issued the below statement following arguments in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on two cases involving the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (HSTPA), a historic package of bills that extended protections for millions of rent-stabilized tenants across New York State and closed loopholes that the Legislature found to be defeating the purpose of New York’s Rent Stabilization Law:

Bronx Tenants Go On Rent Strike In Response to Landlord’s Failure Fix Hazardous Living Conditions

The Bronx, NY (December 8) – This week, rent-stabilized tenants at 1187 Anderson Avenue joined tenants at 1230 Woodycrest in the Bronx in announcing a rent strike against their notorious landlord, Isaac Kassirer, demanding they fix hazardous living conditions that have gone unchecked for years, including rodents, roaches, mold, leaks, plumbing problems, inconsistent heat and hot water, and dysfunctional elevators.
