UPDATE: Our Brooklyn and Manhattan Advocates ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon May 21^st. Our Brooklyn team has raised $9,614, 128% of their $7,500 goal. Our Manhattan team has raised $4,818, 96% of their $5,000 goal. We could not have done it without your support!

 

For most of our clients, just being able to get to court is the biggest barrier to accessing justice. Most of them live on less than $200 per month and struggle to pay for essential items such as shelter, food, and clothing for their children. With such limited income, a $5.50 round-trip subway fare is unaffordable. Many of our clients miss essential meetings with their attorneys and court dates because they just cannot afford to travel. We're raising money to buy Metrocards so that our clients will be able to come to our offices and attend court appearances. Our Manhattan advocates are also raising money for translation equipment so that we can host group meetings and provide community education in multiple languages, and for calling cards so that our clients can stay in touch with us.
