BROOKLYN FAMILY DEFENSE PROJECT HOLDS SECOND ANNUAL PARENT AWARD CEREMONY

Each year, the Brooklyn Family Defense Project holds an award ceremony recognizing parents for their strength and courage in facing the family court and child welfare systems. Parents are honored for their perseverance, their accomplishments, and their dedication to their children. This year's event took place on July 14th at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.

More than 20 parents were honored, accepting the awards with their children. The awards were presented by the BFDP interdisciplinary team working with the parent. An institution dedicated to the cultural enrichment of young children was an ideal setting for the event. Before the award ceremony, children were able to spend time in the museum with their parents. Great thanks to the NYC Children’s Museum of the Arts for providing two artists to help the children to proudly draw pictures saying “I love Mommy.”
