| Legal Services NYC Attorney Receives New York City Bar Association Award |

New York, NY- Maxine Ketcher, a senior staff attorney and community outreach specialist at Legal Services NYC-Bronx, was one of 5 recipients of the New York City Bar Association's Nineteenth Annual Legal Services Awards. The Legal Services Awards recognize attorneys and non-attorneys who provide outstanding civil legal assistance to New York City's poor.

Ms. Ketcher received the Award in recognition of her more than 20 years of service to low-income Bronx clients in family law matters, and her outstanding dedication to educating parents and children about their rights through widespread community education. The NYC Bar Association Awards are administered by the Special Committee on the Legal Services Awards, chaired by William T. Russell, Jr., and sponsored by the Committee on Pro Bono and Legal Services, chaired by Madeleine Schachter. The awards are endowed by the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation. They were presented by Hon. Carmen Cipatrick, Judge, New York State Court of Appeals, on Thursday, May 15th at the Association. Legal Services NYC —the largest organization exclusively devoted to providing free civil legal services in the United States, with neighborhood offices in every borough of New York City—provides free help on cases involving housing, family, domestic violence, public benefits, income tax, employment, education, consumer rights and economic development. Legal Services NYC programs include Legal Services NYC-Bronx, Bedford-Stuyvesant Community Legal Services, Brooklyn Family Defense Project, Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, Legal Services NYC-Brooklyn Branch, South Brooklyn Legal Services, Manhattan Legal Services, Queens Legal Services, Staten Island Legal Services, and the Legal Services NYC Legal Support Unit. Funding for the Legal Services NYC programs comes from the Legal Services Corporation, grants from the city, the state and federal agencies, private foundations, United Way of New York City, the New York State Interest on Lawyers Account Fund and private donations. ### |
