Single Stop

Single Stop

Many poor New Yorkers fail to claim thousands of dollars of public benefits because they don’t know how to apply. Many more lose their homes, simply because they cannot afford a lawyer.

Single Stop is a partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation that tries to change that. Through this program, we enhance the impact our civil legal services work has on the lives of our clients by making our expertise available in a user-friendly, multi-service setting.

Through collaborations with community based organizations at 19 locations throughout New York City, Single Stop provides a free, friendly and confidential location to receive services and counseling. Free legal counseling by experienced Legal Services NYC attorneys covers a wide range of civil problems—including housing evictions, immigration, custody battles and advice on setting up and maintaining small businesses.
